The scope and opportunities for the development of the hospitality sector are high in Vietnam. As well as, almost 8 million tourists visited the country in 2015, an increase of more than one million since 2012. Over the course of the next three years, 58 new hotels will open with a combined key count of 16,576. Most of these projects are dotted along the south half of the country, with 8 – 10 new hotels openings happening in Danang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Phu Quoc island.
Among the 58 proposed developments, the biggest hotel chains are aiming at the high-end market. Almost 60% will be 4-star hotels and around 38% will fall within the 5-star category. Before the end of the year, three proposed developments will open with a further 20 opening in the following year. 2018 will see the opening 17 new hotels, 8 hotels in 2019 and 10 more planned beyond
